At Advene Health we offer a variety of services for those struggling with Mental Health issues. We provide outpatient care for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families; as well as on-site evaluations to determine a diagnosis for depression, anxiety, mood disorders, attention deficit disorders, and substance use disorders.
The basic definition of substance use disorder is the repeated use of drugs or alcohol to produce pleasure, alleviate stress, and/or alter or avoid reality, or to self-medicate to treat a mental illness. Misusing substances often leads to an addiction which is characterized by a person’s inability to control the impulse to use drugs, even when the consequences can be harmful to themselves and those around them. Addiction leads to chemical alterations in brain functions and behavioral changes. If you, or someone you know, is dealing with substance use issues, we are here to help.
MAT treats substance use disorders, particularly opioid use, by combining FDA-approved medications, such as Suboxone and Buprenorphine, with counseling and behavioral therapies. This treatment helps manage withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings for substances. This allows the affected individual to focus on their recovery more easily. MAT has proven to be one of the most effective ways to treat substance use disorders, reducing overdose deaths, improving treatment retention, and lowering misuse of drugs.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment addresses both a substance use disorder and a simultaneously occurring mental health condition. It is important to treat both of these issues together, as they often influence each other. If untreated, substance use can lead to a worsened mental state, while untreated mental health can lead to self-medicating with substances.
